Birchwood Cafe Installation

Last night we finished installing my new show at the Birchwood Cafe. It looks great! The subject matter and style fit in perfectly with cafe's look. These eleven pieces are from my Point Reyes Coastal Fog series.

Antique Window Series I

I'm beginning a new series using salvaged antique windows as the frame. This is the start of the first one using a photo of an old Ukrainian barn photo with a pattern in the background. I'm using a thin mulberry paper which allows for the image to become somewhat transparent when saturated with encaustic medium and held up to light. It's turing out exactly as I was hoping it would!

Carving a 30x30" piece for Gallery 360. On display starting this Saturday evening. It's a brand new collaborative piece using a pattern my husband David Bearon created.

Good Egg II

Here's the second chick. I wasn't too keen on the blue egg I painted so I switched it over in photoshop to this peach/pink.

Russian Decorative Windows

Encaustics with photography. Photos of Russian windows taken in Rostov and Suzdal. Carving into the wax makes these pieces quite 3 dimensional.

Found Wood Encaustic Miniatures

Using found wood I carved out sections for the photos to be placed in. The photos are printed on a delicate bamboo paper then encased in the carved sections using encaustic medium.
Both of these pieces measure 2.24" x 11.5". Tiny guys.

Abstract American Sweetheart Orchid Cactus

This encaustic was painted on a heavy art paper. It's slightly floppy like a record. I absolutely love the feel of it.
